Smokekit was snatched up while sight was still foreign to her by a coyote after a snack. When the coyote crossed into a clan's territory, it was viciously attacked. They hadn't noticed her in the jaws of the creature until they'd finished scaring the coyote away and heard the soft cries. At first they were weary of her, thinking a Queen would come searching for her kit. Instead they watched for a few hours. When nobody came, a few stepped forward to find her. In the time they waited, Smokekit had gained her sight and had wandered through the grasses in silence. When she heard the larger cats pursuing her, she found herself a hole in a tree root. There, she waited for them to pass over. When they did, she noticed that they didn't seem to be out to take her life but she wanted to double check. Smokekit used the fact that they'd passed over her to escape the hole and waltz her way in the direction they'd come. A small cropping of thick grass gave her another hiding place. Deliberately, she let out a loud wail, as if she were caught in something. Instantaneously, she heard the movement of the felines back in her direction. Worried expressions were plastered on their faces when they finally found her, though it faded into confusion when they found nothing wrong. "This kit appears to have tricked us," one of them had mused with a smirk. "We must be losing our touch Slyclaw. If this kit can trick us so easily, who's to say an older feline wouldn't be able to as well," the female of the group said, though she smiled down at Smokekit. She tilted her head at them in curiosity. What would they do with her? she'd thought. "We should take it to Sharpstar. I think he will be interested in this young kit's abilities." They nodded to each other and the female leaned down and grabbed Smokekit by her scruff. While she dangled, the one known as Slyclaw called for the others in the party and they all began to depart from the area. Upon arrival to the camp, Smokekit eyed each member with distrust and the feeling was shot back in her direction as well. Slyclaw cleared his throat. "Sharpstar, we found a lone kit," he called up to the high rock. A dark pelted feline emerged at the top ledge and gazed down at the returned patrol. "How did you find it?" he demanded, not trusting the find of a kit. "It was in the clutches of a small coyote. We didn't realize the coyote had it until we finished running off the beast." Smokekit heard some murmurs of uncertainty. Was she really so dangerous? The one known as Sharpstar made his way down the high rock. The tom was large and she gazed up at him with wide, mostly curious eyes. "How long did you wait?" "Five hours. Nobody came," was the females response. Her voice sounded sad, but a bit hopeful. The dark male looked down at her with shrewd eyes. "What is it's gender?" he asked. Slyclaw shifted over and did a quick search, sniffing lightly at her hind end as she dangled. "Female," he announced. Sharpstar gave a smirk which made Smokekit pin her ears back. "We have plenty of males. An addition of a female would be worth taking in," he said to his clan. There was a murmured agreement, though it was still a bit uncertain. "She may stay and I expect you to keep an eye on her Silversong." The female nodded lightly, jostling Smokekit a bit. Upon being taken into the nursery, Smokekit found herself in the company of two other kits: Cedarkit and Honeykit. At first she did not quite trust the two, but as Cedarkit treated her as if she were another family member, she became less uncertain of them. They were very caring and though Cedarkit was far too level-headed to play tricks on, Honeykit was Smokekit's favorite target for trickery. When the two of them entered their apprentice stage, Smokekit was left alone with Silversong. The she-cat was kind, but she did not play along with her like Cedarkit and Honeykit did. A lot of the time when Smokekit tried to leave the nursery, she received distrustful stares. This caused her to retreat into the nursery. She was grateful to Cedarpaw as he returned to keep her company and to play with her. Getting a first-hand account of training was also a big relief. Smokekit found herself close to the kit who never treated her as a suspicious stranger. He was the brother she never had. Honeypaw on the other hand mostly moved on from the young kit. She seemed far too interested in her training that it became less important to her to spend time with the suspicious kit that had appeared four months after her own birth.
Apprenticehood
As Smokekit shifted to Smokepaw, she was under the mentorship of a very scarred tom by the name of Fallenpelt. Having had Cedarpaw's advice about how apprenticeships were, she thought she understood what there was to expect. But she was wrong. Fallenpelt made it difficult for her and after a few of the tasks, she knew she still was not trusted among the clan. Smokepaw was frustrated by this lack of trust, but found she could accomplish the tasks if she tried hard enough. Cedarpaw was also able to help her with her tasks, giving advice, though Smokepaw made sure not to inform him of how hard it was on her for she did not want him to feel sorry for her. With his help though, Smokepaw was able to prove herself worthy as a warrior. The trickery she was known for was something that was strengthened with the training. It was what helped the clan see that she could be trusted. When Cedarpaw moved to warrior status as Cedarfrost and obtained is first apprentice, Smokepaw felt alone again. Cedarfrost had been her only real friend since Honeypaw who made it to Honeypool, became more distant from Smokepaw. She was the odd one, but she was the one that worked the hardest to gain trust. The training helped her to see how the others could see her as a threat. There were many things they didn't know about strangers that could put them in danger. Her skills in hunting and fighting enhanced her skills of trickery and she found herself much more confident in her abilities without the assistance of Cedarfrost.
Warrior Life
It wasn't long after Cedarfrost became a warrior that Smokepaw gained the name of Smokeheart as her warrior name. When her best friend returned as a common sight with her, she was far more content than when she was alone. She was a strong warrior and the clan finally noticed her as a worthy member. Smokeheart received her first apprentice, a young spiteful tom by the name of Palepaw. Though the clan trusted her, she knew this was another test of her loyalty to the clan. Training Palepaw was difficult, but she was able to show him what it meant to use trickery to his advantage when going against a foe as well as in hunting. When she showed him this, he became more compliant with her teachings, as well as those from Cedarfrost as he offered assistance. It wasn't long until Palepaw became Palefur. Smokeheart was proud of what she'd been able to accomplish and thanked Cedarfrost for his assistance in bringing the young apprentice into the world of the warriors.
Deputy Life
Some time after her apprentice became warrior, Sharpstar appointed Smokestar as his deputy. Though Cedarfrost's apprentices felt he was more suited for the position than she was, he never held any animosity towards Smokeheart. Sharpstar was on his last lives when she moved into position and he informed her in private that she'd proven herself worthy of running the clan after him. She knew that Cedarfrost deserved the credit for her making it into this position. She was not deputy for long. A few moons after her appointment, a clan that resided in the region, DuskClan, raided their borders, attacking with merciless brutality. Everyone fought hard against the invading clan, though the loses were many. Smokeheart received a bad wound to her hind end while many of the others sustained some severe injuries. At one point, Smokeheart paused near the end of the battle to take in the loss she saw. Her clan was mostly destroyed, aside from those whe knew well. When Smokeheart found Sharpstar as the battling ended, she felt lost. His throat and part of his belly had been cut open. It was a gruesome death. In mourning, Smokeheart and those remaining went to the MoonStone and sent a prayer to them for her fellow clan cats. At the same time, she took on the role of leader, accepting her nine lives from StarClan who watched over them. Now known as Smokestar, she appointed Cedarfrost as her deputy, needing a good friend to help her to rebuild the clan to it's former glory. She knew that he'd lost the she-cat he'd taken as a mate and it became his mission of sorts to get back at DuskClan for his loss. The heat of his vengeance was palpable though she was not the same. Smokestar wanted to rebuild and begin again.
Leader
It all came about rather smoothly. ArrowClan started to flourish in a way Smokestar had never seen before. Many cats came from different walks of life and all pledged loyalty to ArrowClan. With the help of Cedarfrost, the two made excellent work of the clan. However, a few months into her time as leader, Smokestar grew ill and was nest ridden for quite some time. The medicine cat at the time tended to her night and day while Cedarfrost took charge in Smokestar's absence. It wasn't long before she started to recover from her sickness, though she was still restricted to her nest by the medicine cat. It was during this time that DuskClan returned again. The battle was gruesome and violent as it had been before. By some miracle, the cats of DuskClan did not think to check her den and thankfully she was spared her own death. When Smokestar was finally healthy enough to walk, she forced herself out of her den. The blood she saw was endless. It was everywhere and it horrified her that she had failed her clan. She'd known the battle had ended. The screams of cats had ceased a few hours prior to her moving. Now she nearly regretted the decision. Smokestar couldn't stand to look at the bloody bodies of both ArrowClan and DuskClan cats. She didn't want to see anyone she cared about among them. At that moment, Smokestar renounced her title as leader, telling herself that she would never again take such a position.
Loner
Smokeheart reclaimed her warrior name as she left the ruins of ArrowClan. All that she had seen stuck with her for a long time. She'd been so distraught about all the blood she'd seen that she couldn't even check to see if her deputy had fallen with them. For all purposes, she assumed he'd been lost in the slaughter. Her failure continued to rain on her and she fell into a deep depression. Smokeheart traversed through the land, taking on other rogues and loners when she had to, though she refused to really eat anything. It wasn't long before her body became thin from undernourishment and her strength showed it. One day while she was walking a she-cat came upon her and at first demonstrated hostile intent. Smokeheart just stared blankly at them, hoping they would end their life quickly. After several moments, the she-cat let down her guard and sauntered over to the withered former leader. Smokeheart learned it was a medicine cat that she'd come across. She was kind and caring as she tended to her weakened body. Smokeheart began speaking of her faults and the reason she looked this way. Her story was long, but the medicine cat seemed to take some interest in it. When Smokeheart finished, the she-cat mentioned that there was a Cedarfrost in their clan. Immediately, this perked her attention. She wanted to believe her best friend was alive, but how could he have escaped? The she-cat offered to bring her to her clan known as SkyClan and let the leader known as Rosestar make the ultimate decision. Smokeheart was unsure about it, thinking she might need to put on some weight before being seen by a clan leader. More importantly, if it was her Cedarfrost, she didn't want him to see her like this. She agreed to go with after she was well again. The medicine cat agreed. It took Smokeheart three weeks to put the weight on that she'd lost. It was the help of the medicine cat that propelled her forward as well. When she came before Rosestar, she was surprised to find that the leader had already agreed to accept her into the clan. Smokeheart was so glad to have a new clan, but not as glad as she'd been to reunite with her best friend. The reunion had been so heartfelt that she couldn't have been happier. She hadn't even known Cedarfrost was capable of shedding tears. Smokeheart finally felt at home again. Some time later, when Cedarfrost was out, another cat had taken the lot of the clan out for a collective spar. Smokeheart thought this to be a good idea as it would give the cats something to do. Little did she know, though, that the deep recesses of her mind were sitting in wait just to drag her back into the hell she'd left. She'd been doing a little sparring with a she-cat by the named of Frozengaze when it happened. Her eyes had caught sight of Cedarfrost on the ground behind the she-cat she fought, blood pouring out onto the ground. Smokeheart had been appalled by the sight, but more so when all she saw was blood covering Frozengaze's pelt. She snapped and attacked the she-cat in cold blood. Her claws and teeth had ripped into the cat before she was torn off by the deputy Crowmask. Smokeheart was about to snarl at him about her killing Cedarfrost when she'd come to reality and Cedarfrost was not lying in blood. She'd imagined the whole thing. In her fear, she'd run from the situation, scared to even think that she'd attacked a fellow clan member in cold blood for no reason. It was Aspenfang who was brave enough to come after her, though he didn't really look at her much. Smokeheart knew something was wrong, but she couldn't think of how to combat it. She sulked about the whole situation for a long while until the threat of a badger forced them to move to a new area. Rosestar found a nice place in the midst of a river and so renamed the clan RiverClan. By this time, Smokeheart hadn't had any serious episodes, though she wasn't so certain they would never come again.

Cedarfrost - You are my best friend and I am so happy that you did not die in the slaughter of ArrowClan. I wish I could talk to you though. This problem I'm having is becoming worse. I'm afraid I might end up hurting someone else.
Aspenfang - I'm sure there is plenty I could say to you, but ultimately, I want to thank you for not shunning me. All these things that happen when I'm most vulnerable to my own mind. You are a great friend and I thank you for helping me when I needed someone.
Rosestar - I'm still grateful that you allowed me to join, though I am surprised that you have not banished me for what I have done. Even though it is beyond my control, I am still a threat to your clan. I hope that I can get control over myself, but if the time comes that I cannot, please do not be lenient with me.
